Area Law Enforcement
Around 50 automobiles have been covered with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the German town of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, according to law enforcement.
Automobiles, building surfaces and mailboxes were defaced, occasionally with prohibited symbols, they stated in a statement.
Law enforcement report they were contacted late on Wednesday, when a individual discovered that a vehicle in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been marked with a reddish liquid.
The fluid had been placed in the shape of a banned symbol, they stated.
Police then found many other vandalized vehicles and residential walls in the surrounding area.
These symbols are prohibited in Germany under regulations banning the visible presentation of Nazi symbols.
Police say initial examinations show the liquid was most likely human bodily fluid.
"Currently there is no indication as to where it came from; investigators are not yet cognizant of any injuries in connection with the occurrence," they added.
City officials said they were attempting "to unravel the incident" and have asked to the public for information.
An important political figure said the vandalism rendered him without words and had to be resolved quickly.
"This event hits the core of Hanau and reawakens the trauma of the right-wing attack five years ago," he wrote on social media, referring to the murder of nine people by a shooter aiming at people of migrant background in five years prior.
